Here is what you need to know to get to Greifswald.

Flight connections to Berlin and Hamburg are most suitable. Visitors from the UK should also check for flights from London to Szczecin/Poland.

From Berlin / South

By public transport:

From Tegel Airport: Take Bus X9 to the train station “Hauptbahnhof” (Berlin Central Station). From there board a train to Greifswald.

From Schönefeld Airport: There is a train connection (Airport Express) from Schönefeld Airport to Berlin-Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Station). From there board a train to Greifswald.

Please note: If you board a regional train (“Regionalexpress”), please get off at Greifswald, not at Greifswald-Süd. The train journey from Berlin to Greifswald takes about 2-3 hours.

Alternatively, you may also look for a bus connection to Greifswald, e.g. by checking the information on www.busradar.com

By car:

Follow the “Autobahn” (motorway) A11 and A 20 from Berlin, passing Pasewalk/Neubrandenburg until you reach Greifswald.

 

From Hamburg

By public transport:

When arriving at Hamburg Airport, go to “Hamburg Hauptbahnhof” (Hamburg Central Station). A shuttle service is leaving from the airport. Taking a train from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to Greifswald, you may need to change trains in Rostock and Stralsund. The train connection from Hamburg to Greifswald takes about 4 hours. By car:

Follow the motorway A1 to Lübeck, exit Lübeck-Dänischburg/Skandinavienkai. Go on to Rostock passing along Schlutup and Schöneberg. Then take motorway A20 to Rostock. Follow the A20 passing along Tribsees and Grimmen and take the exit to Greifswald.
