Das Goldene Zeitalter global. Die Niederlande im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert – Michael North

In his latest publication on the global role of Dutch culture in the early modern period, Greifswald historian Michael North also discusses the interconnectedness of the Baltic Sea region with the world. In addition to patrons such as Queen Christina of Sweden, Prof. North also discusses the role of actors such as architects, painters and migrants from the Baltic region during the "Dutchification" of the world in the 17th and 18th centuries. They are instrumental in a transfer of knowledge and technology that meant change through sometimes painful appropriation, transformation and rejection of cultural content in the societies of Asia, Africa and the Americas.
