The Polish culture days ‘polenmARkT’ began as a student initiative in Greifswald in 1997 and have now grown to a ten-day festival that is held every year in November. Originally, it was just a cultural evening for international and German students for presenting Poland in all its cultural diversity, but it quickly became much more.
In November, Greifswald presents the neighbouring country of Poland with avant-garde and inspiring events. The festival is aimed towards people with a wide range of interests and of various ages.
For instance, the annual music programme is classical, jazzy and alternative. The regular programme includes readings, journalistic and historical panel discussions, literary and artistic exhibitions, presentations of classic and contemporary films, language and art workshops, cultural evenings, theatre and cabaret performances, information events about studying in Poland, scientific lectures, parties, concerts and much more. Even the youngest visitors always find something especially for them, such as screenings of animated films and puppet theatre plays.
