Students can get involved in university politics at various levels.
Students who belong to a particular subject discipline or department form a department student body. Every year, each department student body elects a Department Student Council.
Students at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities delegate four student members to the Faculty Council.
Elected student members are also involved in the legislative body at university level,
the Academic Senate.
Both of the above-named bodies consist of students as well as professorial staff,
academic and non-academic staff.
Students at the University of Greifswald have the right to vote and stand for election to the Student Parliament (StuPa),
which in turn elects the Students’ Union (AStA).
Both are purely student bodies.
