Sustainability in the Baltic Sea Region notes

BUP Symposium 2020

Research and innovation for a sustainable Baltic Sea Region - this was the topic of the symposium of the region's largest academic network, the Baltic University Programme (BUP), which took place on 25 and 26 August 2020. In nine sessions, about 300 scientists discussed online about technical, scientific and social aspects of the region's sustainability transformation. In the thematic group "Climate Change and Renewable Energies", for example, the potentials of CO2 storage in heating plants in the region and various wind energy options were discussed. In this session, Stefan Ewert presented on "Climate Change and Renewable Energy from Wetlands in the Baltic Sea Region", which is a cross-sectional project of the research areas "Energy" and “Sustainability" at the IFZO. The sustainability research at IFZO was also presented in the poster session of the symposium. The posters are available online: https://www.balticuniv.uu.se/bup-resources/bup-symposium-2020/poster-session/.
