Post-doctoral Research Associate on the geopolitics of the Baltic Sea Region

The Centre for Geopolitics, University of Cambridge, invites applications for a one-year, fixed-term post-doctoral Research Associate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the geopolitics of the Baltic Sea Region, past and present, with a special reference to Britain's role in the region; for teaching an MPhil course on Britain and the geopolitics of the Baltic Sea Region (together with centre Director Brendan Simms); and assisting with the running of the Baltic Geopolitics Programme. The post holder will also support the Centre's broader objectives through organising and curating events, publications and outreach initiatives. The postholder will report directly to the Director.

This is a demanding position working in a fast-paced environment requiring a pro-active approach to research as well as to the organisation of events and liaising with partners both within and without the University.

Candidates should have a PhD (awarded by October 2021) in a field relevant to the study of Britain's strategic relationship to the Baltic Sea Region, past and present, for example History, Political Science, International Relations, Security Studies, Geography or similar. Confirmation of the position will be subject to the award of the PhD. In addition to producing high-quality research, candidates should be experienced in providing support and taking the initiative in a university, think tank or similar environment.
